Transfer from Henri Coanda Otopeni-Bucharest Airport to Constanta
A very limited number of flights to Constanta – Mihail Kogalniceanu airport (usually low cost) are available during the summer season.
Most of the flights from Europe will arrive on Henri Coanda airport (Otopeni-Bucharest).
There are two main options for traveling from Henri Coanda OTP-Bucharest airport to Constanta.
Option A: Direct mini-buses
There are bus companies that provide a direct transfer from Henri Coanda OTP-Bucharest airport to Constanta.
One good option is
that offers the direct transfer from the airport to the hotel with a mini-bus at the price of 80 lei ~ 18 euro/ single trip.
The pick-up time is set by the company according to the airplane arrival/ departure, such that the waiting time is minimal. The mini-bus will transfer the passengers from the airport directly to the destination in Constanta or the other way around: http://alt-transportpersoane.ro/en_US/servicii/
Average transfer time: 3 hours
Upon request, the organizers can manage the booking for the participants. Updated information will be posted.
Option B: Via Bucharest
If you want to travel through Bucharest, at least 2 transfers will be required. This means:
- a bus from the Henri Coanda OTP-Bucharest airport to the Bucharest North railway station
- a train from Bucharest North railway station to Constanta
- a bus from Constanta railway station to the hotel.
Such a trip will totally cost approx. 70-75 lei ~ 16 euro.
Step 1: Express bus 780 from Henri Coanda OTP-Bucharest airport to the Bucharest North railway station (Bucuresti – Gara de Nord):
According to the public transport company web site,
busses are working from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Cost: 3,5lei/single trip + 7 lei the magnetic card.
Duration of the trip: 30-60 min. (depending on the traffic).
Alternative to the bus option, at this step, one can use the transfer offered by the railway company. However, it is longer and it requires an additional transfer (one bus + one train).
Also if you decide to see the center of Bucharest, you can take from the airport the express bus 783 until Universitate bus stop or Piata Unirii. From then on, a metro will be the best option to the North Railway station.
Step 2: Train from Bucharest North railway station to Constanta:
Departure: Bucuresti Nord
Out of season: 7 trains/ day
Cost: 60 lei/ single trip
Duration of the trip: 2h-2h30min, depending on the connection.
Step 3: Bus 5-40 (or 100 in the season) from Constanta railway station to Malibu Hotel (bus stop: Pescarie in Mamaia resort)
Cost: 1,5-4 lei/ single trip.
Duration of the trip: 15 min.
The time estimation in each step does not include the transfer and waiting time.
