The University of Genova was founded as an institution in 1481. It is presently organised into 22 departments with about 35,000 students. The Department of Physics focuses its research topics into seven areas (Environment, History and Education, Medical, Nuclear and Subnuclear, Solid-State and Biophysics, Technological, Theoretical). It offers bachelor and master level degree courses in theoretical physics, nuclear-particles-astrophysics, and solid state physics.
